I won first prize in writer Donna Earnhardt’s poetry contest. The contest was to write a poem that included the phrase “the princess in me” (or one of several other phrases.) Here is my poem:

The princess in me was delicious.
Such a treat when I swallowed her down.
But the heartburn she’s causing is vicious.
I think that it might be the crown.
